Outcomes of Scouting
The outcome of Scouting is encapsulated in these 12 words:
• Trustworthy • Loyal • Helpful • Friendly • Courteous • Kind • Obedient • Cheerful • Thrifty • Brave • Clean • Reverent
These words are taken from the Scout Law and describe how Scouts intend to develop youth into responsible adults. If any of these words exemplify how you see or would like to see represent your child as their adult self, then Scouts is a good fit.
Parents Role
BSA is a great way to introduce your child to new experiences as well as the great outdoors and parents play an important role in BSA.
Parents and other adult volunteers are a necessary part of a Scout Troop's success and there are many opportunities for a parent to get involved. These opportunities start with taking your Scout to meetings and camps and they can just grow from there.
One important way a parent can help the troop is by taking the Youth Protection Training. This gives the troop a deeper bench of Adult Volunteers to choose from when planning events and outings.
